OUR INVESTMENT PORTFOLIO

Every day, I get asked what tools I use to invest and track my finances. So, I thought it would be helpful to create a page listing all of the free tools I recommend for your finances, including the free tools I use.

If you read through this list and don’t find exactly what you’re looking for, or you just aren’t sure which option to pick, drop us an email on our Contact Page. We’ll be glad to help you out.

Please note that some of the links below are affiliate links and will earn me a commission. These are all things I have experience with, and I am recommending them because they are helpful and companies that I trust, not because of any commission it may earn me.

Our Personal Finance Setup

This is the current setup we use for our finances. You’ll notice that everything is FREE. I rather not pay for a service if there is a FREE option.

BANKING

Wells Fargo

We currently use Wells Fargo for our primary checking and savings accounts. We love Wells Fargo because they offer free checking, free checks, access to local branches, easy access to ATMs, ATM reimbursement, and mobile checks deposited into your account. Above all, their level of service is impeccable. Check out Wells Fargo here.

Capital one

Capital One

We currently use Capital One for our Business checking and savings accounts as well as our Emergency fund. We love Capital One because they offer free checking, the provide free checks, easy access to ATMs, and mobile checks deposited into your account. Above all, they provide excellent customer service. Check out Capital One here

INVESTING

VG

Vanguard

We currently use Vanguard for our investing account. I previously used Scottrade, which was bought out by TD Ameritrade and has recently been acquired by Charles Schwab. We found Vanguard to be a better fit for us right now. Vanguard is a better fit because it has all the different products to serve our family; they have easier deposit and withdrawal options for their accounts and excellent customer service. Check out Vanguard here.

M1

M1 Finance

We also use M1 Finance for some investing. M1 Finance is a free DIY robo-advisor. You can choose from thousands of stocks and exchange-traded funds. Each portfolio you create is composed of specific investments in the percentages you choose. M1 calls each portfolio a pie, with the specific funds or stocks considered slices of the pie. You can customize an investment “pie” of up to 100 slices. Check out M1 Finance here

RH

Robinhood

We started with Robinhood before M1 Finance. Robinhood is not a robo-advisor, but that doesn’t automatically disqualify it from this competition. This investment tool offers free trading services designed to help you get started investing immediately, whether you’re new to the game or an experienced investor. Robinhood is fully customizable; investors can choose from thousands of investment options. Check out Robinhood here.

SP

StockPile

We currently use Stockpile for our kid’s investment accounts. They have custodial accounts, which I manage for our boys. The commission is 99 Cents, and we are considering moving the accounts to Vanguard. Stockpile allows you to buy and sell stock purchase gift cards that can be on the Stockpile website and given to others as gifts. By the way, Check out Stockpile here; they’ll give you a FREE stock.

SF

Sofi

Sofi allows trading stocks and ETFs, buying crypto, or starting automated investing. When you fund an investment account with $100, you get $25 in free Stock bits to start your investing journey. Check out Sofi here.

TRACKING AND ORGANIZATION

P

Personal Capital

We currently use Personal Capital to keep track of all our finances. They have one of the best online banking dashboards that we have seen. They provide a complimentary portfolio assessment. We love the fact that we can see our Net Worth in one location. We are also still using Mint, but I don’t update it regularly. I also love the Personal Capital app and its customer service. Check out Personal Capital here.

Mint

Mint

We also use Mint to organize our finances. My wife loves Mint better than PERSONAL CAPITAL. I also love the Mint app for Android. Check out Mint here.

CREDIT SCORE

Capital one

Capital One

I currently use Credit Wise
through Capital One to keep track of my credit score.
I think this is a great tool, especially since it’s free.

We also use ACR ACR to check our credit report every four months through Equifax, Transunion, and Experian respectively.

Here are other tools that I have reviewed and highly recommend for your personal setup or side hustles to make extra income. Even though we are debt-free, I continue to ensure that I stay current on the best tools and resources that may help.

I recommend some other tools and why they may be useful for each situation.
